Does a small business still need its own website?
Many local businesses run entirely on a social media page. That can work for a while, but a website you own does a few things a profile cannot.

A social profile is space you rent
A social page lives on someone else’s platform. They set the rules, the layout and what gets shown to whom, and those can change without notice. A website on your own domain is yours to arrange and keep.
Jobs a website does well
- Answers the basics fastHours, location, menu or prices and how to book, in one place that does not require an account to read.
- Shows up in searchPages on your own site can be found when people search for what you do in your area.
- Gives you a link you controlOne address for your business cards, flyers and profiles, that does not change if you change platforms.
- Takes inquiries your wayA booking or contact form can send requests straight to you.
When one page is enough
Many small businesses do not need a large site. A single page with what you do, where you are, how to reach you and a few real photos can cover the basics. Add pages when you have something specific to say, such as separate services, a menu or event types.
Use both
A website and your social profiles work together: social is good for staying in front of people, and the site is where they can get answers and take the next step. If you also have a Google Business Profile, keep its details matching your site.
If you are weighing a site for your business, see our web design in Reading, PA page, or start a project.
