How It Actually Happened
Every project leaves a paper trail.
Not a highlight reel — the real sequence, including the parts a portfolio usually leaves out.
Brief
Every client already knows their business better than any brief template could capture. Discovery means listening closely enough to find the direction hiding in what they already said. On Ember & Vine, that direction turned out to be the client's own tagline: “gather around the fire.”
Design plan
Before any code: a real token system — named colors, a type pairing, one signature motif, specific to that business. Checked against the brief for anything that read as a generic default, before building, not after.
Build
Scope depends on the project. Ember & Vine shipped four pages, then a full takeout ordering system added later: live cart, checkout form, order submission. Whatever the scope, no page ships without being checked in an actual browser first.
QA
Testing in a real browser is non-negotiable. On the Ember & Vine build, it caught two bugs that would have shipped invisibly: a CSS class collision that silently squashed a section's layout, and a backdrop-filter hijacking the mobile nav's positioning without a single console error. Both fixed before anyone else ever saw them.
Ship
Deployed, tested again on real devices, and handed off exactly how you want it — full ownership in your hands, or left with Sacardo to keep current. That choice gets made at handoff, not assumed upfront.
Same Craft, Different Brief

No brand should look like somebody else's leftovers. Here's the same design-system thinking pointed at a few different directions — quick studies, not client work. This page's own emerald-and-brass direction is one answer; Ember & Vine's wood-fired warmth is another.

Every project gets a fixed quote after a short brief — scoped to what you actually need, not an hourly clock. You'll know the number before you commit to anything.
How long does it take?
Depends on scope. A single page moves faster than a multi-page build with custom features — Ember & Vine shipped four pages first, then a full takeout ordering system later, as a second phase.
Who updates the site after launch?
Your choice. Take full ownership and edit it yourself, or leave it with Sacardo and I'll keep it current for you — whichever fits how hands-on you want to be. Decided at handoff, not locked in on day one.
