Sacardo builds websites for other people, so this one should be usable by everyone who visits it. This page says what the site aims for, what's already in place, and where it still falls short.
The goal
Sacardo aims for this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. That's a target, not a claim of full conformance. The site has been checked by its maker, not by an outside auditor, and no automated or manual review catches everything.
What's in place
- Pages use real headings, lists, links, and buttons, and the page language is declared.
- The site is built to be used with a keyboard alone, and whatever element you're on shows a visible gold outline.
- A "Skip to content" link is the first thing the keyboard reaches on every page.
- Text, including small secondary text like the footer and dates, meets the 4.5:1 contrast WCAG asks for.
- Form fields have visible labels, and the field you're in is marked by a gold underline and label.
- After you send the inquiry form, focus moves to the confirmation, so screen readers announce it.
- The live-site preview window keeps keyboard focus inside it while open, closes with Escape, and returns you to where you were.
- Screenshots on the case-study pages have text descriptions.
- Motion and animation are turned down or off for people whose device is set to reduce motion.
- Purely decorative graphics, like the hero animation, are hidden from screen readers.
Known gaps
- The project sites in the Work section (Ember & Vine, All Massive Events, and Slow Burn, which is hosted separately) are self-contained portfolio pieces and haven't been checked to the same standard as this site. The map on the Ember & Vine contact page is a third-party embed.
- The live-site preview window shows another website inside this one, so what you can do in it depends on that site.
- Some decoration moves continuously: the scrolling word bands, the pulsing status dot, and the animated coin and gold lines at the top of the home page. It all stops if your device is set to reduce motion, but there isn't yet a pause button on the page itself.
This list will be updated as things change.
Reporting a barrier
If something on this site is hard or impossible for you to use, please email design@sacardo.com with "Accessibility" in the subject line. Tell us what page you were on, what got in the way, and, if you're comfortable sharing, the device or assistive technology you were using. You'll get a reply within 5 business days, and if the page or information can't be fixed right away, Sacardo will offer another way to get it, such as by email or over a call.
